Paper submission: Jan 26, 2004
Notification of Acceptance: March 15, 2004

PAPER SUBMISSION:
See http://bias.csr.unibo.it/bioaw2004/

SCOPE:
Biometric authentication is increasingly gaining popularity in a large
spectrum of applications, ranging from governmental programs (National ID
card, Visa, fight against terrorism) to personal applications such as
logical and physical access control. Although a number of effective
solutions are nowadays available, new ideas and techniques are necessary
to overcome some of the limitations of current systems. This workshop will
bring together researchers working on various aspects of biometric
techniques in an attempt to develop robust solutions to many challenging
problems in biometrics. Moreover, this workshop will try to identify
trends for future developments and the means for promoting the use of
biometric systems in various application domains. This one-day workshop
will consist of technical presentations, with 2 invited papers and 16-20
contributed papers.

TOPICS:
The workshop will consist of invited and contributed presentations dealing
with all aspects of biometrics. In particular, we solicit papers covering
the topics listed below. Submissions addressing related issues are also
strongly encouraged.

- Fingerprint, Face, Hand, Palmprint, Iris, Speech and any other
biometrics
- Sensing technologies and new devices
- Feature detection and representation for biometric authentication
- Invariant measures for authentication
- Multi-modal and multi-expert techniques
- Psychophysics of human authentication
- Performance evaluation and assessment criteria
- Template protection and techniques for securing biometric systems
- Applications and new challenges
