Subject: CALL FOR PAPERS: RSS 2008 International Conference

The Programme Committee for the RSS 2008 International Conference
invites abstracts for contributed papers and posters in any area of
interest to statisticians and users of statistics.

The Conference will take place from 1-5 September 2008 at the East
Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.

Confirmed speakers include: Alan Agresti, Jerry Friedman, Martin Hasler,
Wolfgang Lutz and Sir Michael Scholar.

There will be over 20 invited sessions with topics to be covered
including:

- Statistical shape analysis
- Statistics and the Olympics
- Modern approaches to causality
- Statistics in finance
- R: foundations, present applications and developments
- Epidemics
- High dimensional data
- Uncertainty in complex models
- Gaussian processes

Abstracts can be submitted on any of the announced topics as well as any
other topic related to statistics in general.

Contributed paper presenters will be allocated a 20-minute slot for
presentation in parallel contributed sessions, while posters will be on
display throughout the conference with a special reception on the
Wednesday evening.

As well as individual papers proposals are also invited for contributed
sessions which are intended to complement the main programme with new or
merging topics.  Such sessions can have a flexible format.  More
