Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Econometrics and Business Statistics
Discipline of Econometrics and Business Statistics
Faculty of Economics and Business
Reference No. 127552
Founded 85 years ago, the Faculty of Economics
and Business at the University of Sydney has a
rich history of intellectual endeavour. Today the
Faculty has an outstanding reputation for
diversity and excellence in teaching, learning
and research, and is in a leading position among
business and economics faculties in Australia.
Econometrics and Business Statistics is a
dynamic, high-level grouping of specialists in
econometrics, business statistics and management
decision sciences. They are engaged in the
development of statistical modelling procedures
and their application to problems arising in
economics and business. As well as theoretical
and applied work within the discipline,
Econometrics and Business Statistics brings
sophisticated quantitative techniques to all
areas of research and scholarship within the
Faculty. The discipline has strengths in the
areas of financial econometrics, computationally
intensive estimation methodology, Bayesian
econometrics, business forecasting, environmental
econometrics and the econometrics of energy
markets. We are particularly seeking new academic
staff to further strengthen these areas of
research.
The Faculty of Economics and Business invites
applications for a full-time position in
Econometrics and Business Statistics at either
the Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level
C) level, depending upon experience and
qualifications. Applicants in any area in
theoretical and/or applied econometrics and/or
business statistics are sought, but candidates
with expertise in the areas listed above are
particularly encouraged to apply. The successful
applicant will join a dynamic group that teaches
a wide variety of courses in econometrics,
business statistics and management decision
science/operations research. The Discipline of
Econometrics and Business Statistics has a very
active research program and has enjoyed
considerable recent and long-term success in
attracting research funding.
Applicants should have a PhD (or substantial
progress towards a PhD) in Econometrics, Business
Statistics or a related field and should have
evidence of research potential in the form of
published papers, working papers and a quality
current research agenda. Successful applicants
should also have teaching experience and ability
to teach at all levels in the Discipline,
including the supervision of honours students (at
a Lecturer level) and research higher degree
students (at a Senior Lecturer level).
Applicants should indicate clearly whether they
wish to be considered for a Level B position or a
Level C position.
The position is full-time continuing (tenure
track), subject to the completion of a
satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period
for new appointees. For further information
contact Dr. Richard Gerlach on (+612) 9351 3944
or email: R.Gerlach@econ.usyd.edu.au
