Don Owen Award

Professor Balakrishnan que estará nos visitando no próximo
SINAPE acaba de receber mais um prêmio (Don Owen Award), mais
um na sua brilhante carreira de pesquisador em Probabilidade e
Estatística (vide abaixo).

Editor of Leading Communications Journals Honored

Taylor & Francis, publisher of Communications in Statistics Simulation
and Computation and Communications in Statistics-Theory and Methods,
proudly announces Dr. N. Balakrishnan as the 2008 recipient of the Don
Owen Award. In addition to a diverse career as author, researcher, and
Professor of Statistics at McMaster University, Dr. Balakrishnan also
serves as the editor-in-chief of the Communications in Statistics
journals.

The Don Owen Award is presented annually by the American Statistical
Association to a statistician who embodies the accomplishments
of Professor Donald B. Owen. Before his death in 1991, Dr. Owen was a
Distinguished Professor of Statistics at Southern Methodist University
and editor of the Communications in Statistics journals. 2008 marks the
award's 25th anniversary.
