IRT/CAT in Brazil, July 2011

Modern Psychometrics (IRT/CAT) Workshop
University of Brasilia, Brazil
July 11-13, 2011

 Brasilia(lr)

ASC is offering a workshop on modern assessment methodology, hosted by the University of Brasilia, July 11-13, 2011.  The goal of this workshop is to provide a broad introduction to item response theory (IRT) and computerized adaptive testing (CAT).  IRT and CAT are sophisticated methodologies that enable testing programs to develop tests that are more accurate and efficient than with classical methods.  Click here to visit the workshop webpage.

The workshop is intended for postgraduate students, lecturers, researchers and assessment professionals working in the fields of education, psychology, certification/licensure testing, training, and human resources.  Content will be at an introductory level, with the objective that participants will be able to apply IRT analysis in their own area of work and understand the concepts of CAT.  Instruction includes both presentations and hands-on use of sophisticated software for analyzing assessments.  Participants are encouraged to bring data to analyze and discuss.

The workshop will be taught by Dr. Nathan A. Thompson, Ph.D., Vice President of ASC and adjunct faculty at the University of Cincinnati.  It is held in association with the Centro de Seleção e Promoção de Eventos at the Universidade de Brasília (http://www.cespe.unb.br/).  An attendance certificate will be issued to each person that attends.

Cost
 Private/Commercial: $400 for 3 days or $150 per day
 Academic/Government: $300 for 3 days or $125 per day
Student*: $200 for 3 days or $75 per day
  *Scholarships available

Cost includes registration, software, PowerPoint slides, coffee breaks, and lunches. It does not include lodging or transportation. Software includes 6-month licenses of landmark ASC software (Iteman 4, Xcalibre 4, CATSim) as well as full versions of the IRT DIF Tool and IRT Scoring and Graphing Tool. In total, this represents approximately $400 worth of software.  Click here to visit the workshop webpage and register.

A limited number of graduate student scholarships to fully cover the registration fee are available through the Applied Psychological Measurement Inc. Graduate Student Grants Program; please click here for an application.

Also, for researchers who live in Asia, a separate workshop is being held in China, April 29 to May 2.  Click here for information on the China workshop.
