“Dynamical Systems and Applications” conference celebrates the 60th anniversary of Professor Clodoaldo Grotta Ragazzo

On August 5 and 6, the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo (IME-USP) will host the conference “Dynamical Systems and Applications” in honor of the 60th anniversary of Professor Clodoaldo Grotta Ragazzo, Full Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at IME-USP and director of the Institute from 2014 to 2018. The event takes place in the Antonio Gilioli Auditorium and features lectures by academics and researchers from various institutions.

Some of the speakers include Andre Salles de Carvalho (IME-USP); Coraci P. Malta (IFUSP); Daniel Smania (ICMC-USP); Fabio A. Tal (IME-USP); Jair Koiller (UFJF); Lucas Ruiz dos Santos (IMC-UNIFEI); Marco Antonio Teixeira (IMECC-Unicamp); Mario Jorge D. Carneiro (ICEx-UFMG); Paulo D. Cordaro (IME-USP); Sylvio Ferraz Mello (IAG-USP) and Eduardo Colli (IME-USP).

About Professor Clodoaldo Grotta Ragazzo

Born in the city of São Paulo on October 15, 1964, Clodoaldo Grotta Ragazzo holds a degree in Biosciences and Naval Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1986) and a PhD in Physics from the Institute of Physics at USP (1989). A full professor at the University of São Paulo, he was Director of IME-USP from 2014 to 2018.

He has also served as a Visiting Professor at Princeton University, in the United States, from 1995 to 1996, as well as Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Applied Mathematics at IME-USP, from 2003 to 2012 and, soon after, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics from 2012 to 2014. While still a student, Ragazzo won the Rondon in Antarctica competition, which happened during the V Brazilian Expedition to Antarctica in 1986.

His area of expertise involved ordinary differential equations, Hamiltonian systems, fluid mechanics and differential equations with delay.
