A continent away, Francisco Reverbel teaches computer science at the
University of Sao Paulo. His interest in distributed objects and database
systems led him to JBoss, where he is in charge of the Common Object
Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) implementation for JBoss. Reverbel,
whose JBoss paper co-authored with Marc Fleury was accepted at the
prestigious Middleware 2003 conference in Rio de Janeiro, June 16-20,
represents another driving force in JBoss contributions, the academic
research community.
"JBoss is a really good example of how open source can marry leading-edge
academic research with the practical needs of the professional software
community," said Reverbel. "The Compensation Plan is one way JBoss Group
ties together a geographically and professionally diverse JBoss
contributor base and rewards their association with the project on an
ongoing basis."
