Abstract
Infinite combinatorics has become an essential tool for handling a significant
number of problems in Analysis, Topology and Set Theory. The central result
in these applications is a theorem of P. Erdös and R. Rado [P. Erdös, R. Rado,
Intersection theorems for systems of sets, J. London Math. Soc.
35 (1960), 85-90, and Intersection theorems for systems of sets II,
ibid. 44 (1969), 467-479]. In this paper, a measure-theoretic
version of the classical Erdös-Rado theorem on \Delta-systems is proved, and
appplications to the study of infinite dimensional Banach spaces are given.
