ICBA'04 CALL FOR PAPERS

FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION
15-17 July 2004, Hong Kong (http://www4.comp.polyu.edu.hk/~icba/)

IMPORTANT DATES:
Submission of papers: 1 December 2003
Notification of acceptance: 1 February 2004
Camera-ready copy: 15 March 2004
Author registration: 15 May 2004
Conference: 15-17 July 2004

The PURPOSE of this conference is to:
1. Emphasize the design and development of efficient
and effective biometric technologies and systems,
2. Provide an international forum for researchers, engineers
and vendors from different disciplines to exchange ideas,
3. Identify problems, evaluate system performance, explore
new research directions, and
4. Initiate possible collaborative research and
future system developments.

This conference will significantly benefit biometric researchers in
academic, government and industrial sectors. The conference will COVER:
1. Biometric technologies and modes (acquisition, sensing, storage,
processing, identification, verification, and multimodal systems)
2. Biometric systems ( fingerprint, face, iris, voice, hand,
signature, gait, etc.)
3. Biometrics implementations (parallel, distributed, real-time
computing, smart cards)
4. Biometric applications (banking, access control, computer login,
airport security, forensics, border control, automotive, etc.)

The conference will include TUTORIALS from biometrics experts:
1. Fingerprint Recognition by Prof. D. Maltoni,
2. Palmprint Authentication by Prof. D. Zhang,
3. Face Recognition by Prof. X. Tang,
4. Speaker Verification by Drs. B. Mak and M. Siu,
5. Signature Verification by Dr. D.Y.Yeung, and

The conference will also include INVITED TALKS from: Drs. J. Wayman,
A. K. Jain, N. Komatsu, J. Phillips, and F. Ho

The conference will also include three COMPETITIONS:
1. FVC2004 (Fingerprint Verification Competition),
2. FAC2004 (Face Verification Competition), and
3. SVC2004 (Signature Verification Competition).

ICBA invites high-quality original papers on any topic that is
related to biometric authentication. Papers should be no more than
20 pages (double-spaced and 1-sided using a 10 pt font). Each paper
will be refereed by the program committee. Papers will be judged on
their originality, significance, correctness, and clarity. Authors should
use the ICBA web-based submission facility available at the conference
web site to submit their papers (in PDF or MS Word format). Selected
papers will be published in a special issue of the IEEE Transactions
on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. Part C (www.comp.polyu.edu.hk/~smc).
The proceedings will be published as Springer Lecture Notes in Computer
Science (LNCS) (www.springer.de/comp/lncs/),
