SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

The VIII Brazilian Symposium on GeoInformatics (GeoInfo 2006) will take place at Campos do Jordão (São Paulo, Brazil), from November 19 to November 22, 2006. GeoInfo 2006 is supported by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and is organized by the SBC's Special Commission on GeoInformatics.

GeoInfo is a forum for the discussion of current research on the science and technology of geographic information and related areas. In particular, Masters and Doctoral students are encouraged to participate, in order to present ongoing efforts and early results, for receiving useful comments and insights from participating members of our community.

We request either long (6000 words) or short (3000 words) papers, in English, using SBC's traditional format
(available through the following links:
Word: http://www.sbc.org.br/index.php?language=1&subject=60&content=downloads&id=168; LaTeX: http://www.sbc.org.br/index.php?language=1&subject=60&content=downloads&id=222).

Papers must be submitted in PDF format only, with no restrictions on printing, following the instructions available at http://www.geoinfo.info/myreview/.

Long papers should describe scientific results from research that has been recently concluded or is in an advanced state. Short papers should describe preliminary research results and perspective developments. Both long and short papers will be presented orally. All papers will be published in the event's proceedings and in GeoInfo's Web site (www.geoinfo.info), along with papers from all previous editions.

Contributions will be refereed by an international program committee, based on criteria such as originality, quality, relevance, and presentation. All questions should be addressed to the program committee chair.
