Postdoctoral Researcher in Statistics
Random Effect Mixture Models for Multicategory Data
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the
position of postdoctoral researcher funded by Science Foundation
Ireland (SFI) under the Research Frontiers Programme.
The position is available from 1 September 2007 (or soon after)
for 3 years through to the end of August 2010 and the successful
applicant will be based in statistics group of the Department of
Mathematics.
The post involves the development of discrete mass-point models
for multicategory data, the implementation of these as an R package,
and the evaluation of methods through applications and case studies.
A subsidiary aspect will be to explore smooth nonparametric densities
for random effects in the class of generalized linear mixed models.
The project will be directed by Professor John Hinde, NUI Galway,
in collaboration with Dr Nick Sofroniou, Educational Research Centre,
Dublin.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, with some experience
in statistical modelling and statistical computing.
A familiarity with random effect and mixed models would be an advantage.
Experience of programming in R or S-PLUS would also be an advantage.
Salary scale: From EUR38,623.00 to EUR40,476 commensurate with
experience.
