CALL FOR PAPERS: 3rd CSDA Special Issue on
MATRIX COMPUTATIONS AND STATISTICS

Guest Editors:
J. Barlow, L. Elden and P. Foschi

We are inviting submissions for the 3rd special issue of Computational Statistics and Data Analysis dealing with Matrix Computations and Statistics.

A number of interesting and important ideas have resulted from the relationship between matrix computations and statistics. Well known examples include the solution of least squares problems, computation of the singular value decomposition and its generalizations, estimation of principal components, computation of canonical correlations, several cluster analysis algorithms, and the solution of total least squares problems. Applications of matrix computations and statistics in data mining are welcome.

CSDA aims to have regular issues in Matrix Computations and Statistics. Two have been published in recent years (41(1) and 50(1)), which can be found at:
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/01679473.

Submissions for the 3rd special issue should contain both a matrix computations and a statistics component. Authors who are uncertain about the suitability of their papers should contact the special issue editors. All submissions must contain original unpublished work not being considered for publication elsewhere. Submissions will be refereed according to standard procedures for Computational Statistics and Data Analysis. Information about the journal can be found at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/csda.

The DEADLINE for submissions is the 15th December, 2008.

The notification of decision is mid March, 2009.

Papers should be submitted using the Elsevier Electronic Submission tool EES: http://ees.elsevier.com/csda
(In the EES please chose the special issue on "Matrix Computations and Statistics" and the Editor responsible for the special issues).
