COMPETITION
FOR YOUNG STATISTICIANS
FROM
DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
The
International Statistical Institute (ISI) will hold its 58th
World Statistics Congress (WSC) in Dublin, Ireland, from 21-26 August
2011
In
connection to this event, the ISI announces the Jan Tinbergen Competition
among young statisticians from developing countries. They are invited to
submit a paper on any topic within the broad field of statistics, for
possible presentation at the Dublin WSC.
Participation
in the competition is open to nationals of developing countries who are
also residing in a developing country and were born in 1979 or later. The
list of developing countries can be found at http://isi-web.org/developing
Papers
submitted must be unpublished original works that may include material
from participants' university theses. The papers submitted will be
examined by an International Jury of distinguished statisticians who will
select the three best papers presented in the competition. The Juryâs
decision is final. Previous winners of the award are not allowed to
compete again.
Each
author of a winning paper will receive the Jan Tinbergen Award in the
amount of â 2269 and be invited to present his or her paper at the Dublin
WSC, with all expenses paid (i.e. round trip economy class airline ticket
from his/her place of residence to Dublin plus a per diem to cover living
expenses).
Papers
for the Competition should be submitted by 1st of March 2011 to the
ISI Permanent Office via eâmail: isi@cbs.nl
with the Subject "Tinbergen".
