The following is a first Call for Papers for the Satellite Conference to be
held in Macao before the World Statistics Congress in Hong Kong next year.
Please distribute this information to Colleagues who may consider joining
IASE. The conference website will be released soon.

IASE/IAOS Satellite Conference to 2013 World Statistics Congress

The International Association for Statistics Education is pleased to
announce that the 8th Satellite Conference to the World Statistics Congress
will be a joint conference with the International Association for Official
Statistics and will be held in Macao from August 22nd (Thu) to 24th (Sat),
2013. A successful IASE satellite conference has been held before every
recent biennial World Statistics Congress. Next year we have the exciting
prospect of meeting with IAOS, an Association with which we share many
activities.

On August 23rd (Fri), the conference will be under a special theme
ÃâÅstatistics for education: youth and official statisticsÃâÂ, bringing
together IASE and IAOS participants to focus on official Statistics in
conjunction with education and youth. Below are the topics that will be
discussed under the theme.
1. Official statistics resources for schools and tertiary education
2. Disseminating official statistics into the real world of youth
3. Training young statisticians
4. Educational uses of youth statistics.
The umbrella theme of the conference is ÃâÅStatistics Education for
ProgressÃâÂ. All submissions addressing the theme are welcome. The
Conference will be conducted in English.

Participants who would like to present their research in the joint IASE/IAOS
Satellite Conference are requested, in the case of a presentation related to
Official Statistics, to submit their abstract to Sharleen Forbes
(sharleen.forbes@stats.govt.nz) and, in the case of a presentation in the
area of Statistics Education, to Brian Phillips (bphillips@swin.edu.au).
Questions of a general nature about the Satellite should be directed to
Taerim Lee (trlee691@gmail.com), the conference and programme chair.

The abstract should have the subject line ÃâÅIASE/IAOS 2013 abstract and
your surnameÃâÂ, be between 250-350 words and must include the names and
affiliations of all authors and the contact information (including e-mail
and fax) of the proposed presenter. Please indicate whether you want to be
considered for an oral or poster presentation. An optional refereeing
process for papers is offered. Abstracts will be accepted on the condition
that at least one of the authors will give an oral or poster presentation at
the conference.
Detailed guidelines for the paper preparation and an authorÃââs checklist
will be uploaded on the IASE, IAOS and IASE Satellite Conference websites
shortly. The maximum length of a paper is 6 pages (A4), which includes the
title, abstract, authorÃââs information, text, references, figures and
appendices.
The conference proceedings will be published on the IASE website, and the
details of the conference venue will soon be available on the website.
