The objective of this course is to introduce students to the social studies of finance (SSF). SSF is a relatively new field and it emerges from a fruitful conversation between history, sociology, anthropology, psychology and economics. The objective of the course is to pair papers and/or book chapters from different disciplines and see what comes out of such cross reading. Although no period is prioritized in the reading assignments, the various readings of the current crisis will keep us busy. Looking at both the technical devices, markets, and cultures will help us understand the intricately social dimensions of finance.
