Estatistica e aquecimento global

Do blog de Terence Tao, sobre o relatorio da equipe de UC-Berkeley que
estuda o aquecimento
global e que envolve varios estatisticos:

Terence Tao - The BEST team has now submitted their full results for
publication, with a 2-page summary here:

Alex Iosevich - An important point from the summary of the study, as
far as I am concerned, is the comment at the end that the study draws
no conclusion
about the extent to which the humans are responsible for the
temperature increase. And this is really the crux of the issue. It is
at least a possibility at this
point that temperatures go up and down periodically for reasons having
little or nothing to do with human activities. Until this point is
resolved, the study in
question may be little more than a scientific curiosity.16:41

Terence Tao - Well, continued temperature increases of the magnitude
indicated by existing studies (including this "scientific curiosity")
will have a significant
impact on humanity in the future, regardless of whether this increase
was caused by humans, by nature, or by some combination of both. At a
bare minimum,
these studies suggest that some planning needs to be done to adapt to
or mitigate the (now extensively confirmed) climate trends (and its
influences on severe
weather events, such as hurricanes or floods).16:51
