Workshop Announcement: Bayes by the Bay - A Pedagogical Workshop, January 2013

Dear colleague,

We request you to share the following announcement with interested
colleagues and students at your institution (and elsewhere).

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences announces a workshop, aimed at
students and scientists at all levels, on the use of Bayesian
statistics in various areas of science. The goal is to present these
methods in a unified framework, and their applications in various
areas, from biology to climate science to image processing to machine
learning; and to explore new areas of research and collaboration in
these fields.

We encourage both contributed talks and posters and welcome
contributions from scientists who have interesting data from which
they are trying to extract useful information. We also welcome
participants who merely want to attend and learn.

The venue for the workshop is the Hotel Atithi, a short walk from
the sea-front of the historical town in Pondicherry on the Bay of
Bengal coast. Registration is limited to 75
participants. Accommodation will be arranged for the first 50
registered participants.  The remaining participants will have to make
their own arrangements in nearby hotels, which offer a broad range of
tariffs. There is no registration fee.
